Murray Porteous

Murray Porteous worked in Educational Psychology services in Glasgow and Carlisle and then in a Regional Assessment Centre in the North of England. It was here that the Porteous Checklist was used widely and refined to be user friendly. Clinical results confirmed it's validity and usefulness.

At the University of Bradford, the Checklist was used in various social research projects and large sample data was used for further development .

Dr Porteous then moved to the University of Cork, and prepared the Porteous Checklist for national publication by the National Foundation for Educational Research.

A College Student Problems Inventory similar to the adolescent checklist for use in colleges and universities is in preparation.
